Van Gerwen hits seven individual averages below hundred for first time since 2011

Michael van Gerwen has been inconsistent at times this year with his dominance in the sport tested. That is despite winning The Masters and Premier League and statistics show that there has been a downturn in form of sorts.

Since European Tour Seven which was the Dutch Darts Masters in Zwolle in which he averaged 104.23 in his first match, he hasn't averaged 100 in a match.

It has seen eight matches average between the 95-99 mark and the 87-88 mark in a lot of cases with the most recent being 88.59 at the US Darts Masters in his defeat to Michael Smith.

He is still playing well but he will know that he needs to improve ahead of the World Matchplay with all eyes set to be on Mighty Mike as the favourite to reclaim the title he has missed out on in the past two years.
