The Dutchman has like alluded to hit a seventh overall with his most recent before that coming in the same venue last November at the Players Championship Finals.
It was also another occasion where Gurney has found himself on the receiving end of a nine-dart finish with Michael Smith hitting one against him in the Premier League during the last fortnight in Dublin.

It also has a slice of history as the first UK Open to feature two nine-darters in the same event with it only right that Mighty Mike was involved in it.
