Michael van Gerwen's inconsistency continues on the World Series with the World Number One losing out to Martin Schindler in a shock defeat at the German Darts Masters.

This defeat saw Mighty Mike lose from 5-1 up and Van Gerwen gave credit to his opponent but admitted that he shouldn't ever be in a position to lose the tie from that far in front.
'All the credit to Martin Schindler for coming back to win that match but I shouldn't have put myself in that position and can only blame myself.'
He added that he did feel good but that he just missed opportunities to win and was punished by 'The Wall' as a result and that he now is fully focused on the World Matchplay, a tournament he will be looking to make a statement in.
'Felt good and playing well but missed good opportunities to finish the job and got punished. Full focus on the Matchplay from now.'
