Van Gerwen reflects after first defeat to Price: ‘It hurts not to take the trophy home’

Michael van Gerwen lost out to Gerwyn Price for the first time during the semi-finals at the Grand Slam of Darts.
Van Gerwen though was as usual honest in defeat and said that in his opinion Price deserved to win and that he made too many mistakes and as a result Price took advantage of that.
’Mighty Mike’ though admitted that it hurt not to claim the title and that he wants to put it right at the Players Championship Finals.
"Gerwyn deserved to win," said Van Gerwen. "I made too many mistakes and gave him too many chances. He took advantage and credit to him for that.
"It hurts not to take the trophy home, but tomorrow I start to prepare for the next tournament, where I will put it right."

- I completely agree with Vincent's comments on "whistlegate". It's great to have someone with Vincent's exprience address this issue, so hopefully clearer and stricter guidlelines can be given to referees, security and members of the crowd. No whistling during throws, and something like: whistlers evicted and fined a hefty sum.
