Van Gerwen skips Players Championship tournaments this weekend

Michael van Gerwen will not be competing in the Players Championship tournament this weekend after all, his sponsor team TOTO Dart Kings reports. 'Mighty Mike' had initially signed up for the double header in Barnsley.

He is currently in Glasgow, Scotland, where the third week of play of the Premier League Darts will be completed on Thursday night. Van Gerwen has opted not to travel on to England from Glasgow, instead returning home.

Van Gerwen's spot during the Players Championship tournament will be taken by one James Hurrell.
