The first semi-final is confirmed at the
European Darts Open with
Michael van Gerwen set to face off against
Luke Humphries in another meeting following the latter's insane whitewash at the German Darts Grand Prix.
But Van Gerwen will still head into their clash in the semi-finals despite coming through a real great escape against Dirk van Duijvenbode.
He took advantage of a real collapse from his compatriot who was 3-0 up and seemingly cruising towards the semi-finals and a first win in some time over the leading Dutchman.
But he missed seven match darts and in typical MVG fashion, he snuck through 6-5 in a game he potentially would have lost 12 months ago.
His march towards a third
European Tour title of the season continues but could be stopped by Humphries.
'Cool Hand Luke' really hit top gear as he stormed past Nathan Aspinall in a 6-3 win.
In that victory, he produced a 107.8 average, four `180's and 60% on the doubles and is producing form reminiscent of that historic weekend.
