Van Gerwen takes lead in European Tour Order of Merit after German Darts Championship win

Michael van Gerwen has taken the lead in the European Tour Order of Merit after claiming the title at the German Darts Championship.

Van Gerwen managed to win a European Tour title again in Hildesheim for the first time since May 2019 defeating Rob Cross 8-5.

The Dutchman earned 25,000 pounds with his title. Van Gerwen previously took 3000 pounds at the International Darts Open and now leads the Euro Tour Order of Merit with 28,000 pounds. Gerwyn Price won the International Darts Open in February, but did not participate in Hildesheim due to a hand injury.

The Iceman is now in second place with 25,000 pounds . Peter Wright follows in third position with 15,000 pounds.

At the end of the season, the 32 best players will participate in the European Championship in Dortmund. This tournament is scheduled from 27 to 30 October.
