Van Gerwen takes time to recharge missing upcoming tournaments: "But don't worry I'm ready for the Matchplay"

One absentee this weekend from the four Players Championship tournaments to conclude proceedings before the World Matchplay will be Michael van Gerwen with the Green Machine only competing at the Dutch Darts Masters recently since undergoing surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

It was a quick return for MVG who looked at times against Danny Noppert like there was no signs of any issues in his recovery but while he won't be in Barnsley, he will be ready for the World Matchplay.

Currently, he is away with wife Daphne taking some rest ahead of a busy run in of tournaments with a month away in Australia with the World Series following a trip to Blackpool as he aims to regain the title at the Winter Gardens for the first time since 2016.

"Recharging with my beautiful wife, but don’t worry I’m ready for the Matchplay," he wrote.
