Michael Van Gerwen has topped the Premier League Darts table for the eighth time in nine years as he heads into the play-offs on Friday night.
Van Gerwen who last year failed to qualify for the top four led the way with 23 points ahead of Jose de Sousa.
Nathan Aspinall himself had a chance to finish top but lost out to De Sousa in their final game which enabled the Portuguese ace to finish second. They will now face off in the semi-finals tonight.
As will Van Gerwen and Jonny Clayton with ‘The Ferret’ leaving it late but he saw off Dimitri Van den Bergh in their crunch clash to secure his spot. As a result, the latter Belgian finishes fifth and ahead of James Wade, Peter Wright and Gary Anderson with the higher the rank, the more prize money on offer.
