Michael van Gerwen and former footballer Kevin Großkreutz, won the fifth edition of the Promi Darts World Championship in Düsseldorf on Saturday evening. 'Mighty Mike' previously won the tournament in 2017 (with wrestler Tim Wiese) and 2020 (with handball player Pascal Hens).

At the Promi Darts World Championship, six PDC darters are paired with a German celebrity or a celebrity who works in Germany. In addition to Van Gerwen, also Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, Michael Smith, Gabriel Clemens and Fallon Sherrock made their appearance.

In Group A, Price and entertainer Bülent Ceylan, managed to win his group matches against Michael Smith & Matthias Killing (presenter) and Peter Wright & Amira Pocher (presenter). Wright and Pocher won the other group match, which meant they played Price and Ceylan again for a spot in the final. That match was again won 2-1 by Price and Ceylan.

In the other group, Van Gerwen and Großkreutz remained unbeaten against Fallon Sherrock & Oliver Pocher (entertainer) and Gabriel Clemens & Henning Wehland (musician). In the semi-final, Van Gerwen and Großkreutz proved too strong for Clemens and Wehland 2-1. In the final Van Gerwen/Großkreutz defeated Price/Ceylan 3-1 to claim the title.
