From being unable to even throw his darts properly due to dartitis to being utterly dominant on the PDC Challenge Tour. The story of Berry van Peer has been one of ups and downs.
Now, after another successful weekend for the Dutchman that saw him claim three of the five Challenge Tour titles on offer, Van Peer has spoken to Weekly Dartscast about the secret behind his change in fortunes that has seen him become the clear leader on the overall Challenge Tour Order of Merit.
"It's been an amazing weekend," says Van Peer. "Getting to the number one spot was my goal. No matter if it was by Β£50 or more I would have taken it. Winning three out of five just changes the whole weekend. It's an amazing achievement."
"I am very satisfied. Nowadays I play without pressure and that's when I perform best. I am free to play and then the results follow," he continues before crediting the European Tour as somewhere that has helped him hone his skills in recent weeks and months. "I gained a lot of confidence there. I even managed to qualify for the final day on Sunday and proved there that I can compete with the better players on a good day."
