A steward who bore an uncanny resemblance to darts star
Stephen Bunting received an unexpected tribute from a group of ecstatic football fans during Wednesday night’s match between Rangers and Dundee United at Ibrox.
Bunting, a fan favourite thanks to his cheerful personality and iconic walk-on to David Guetta’s Titanium, has become a true cult hero — not just in darts, but beyond. His popularity clearly stretches far outside the oche, as Scottish fans thought they’d spotted his double on the touchline.
Convinced they’d found a lookalike of ‘The Bullet’, the crowd erupted. They didn’t just chant his name — they belted out Titanium too, paying full tribute to the English thrower.
The steward took it all in good humour, joining in with the celebrations. As the crowd sang along, he clearly relished the moment — much to the delight of nearby fans.
The 'real' Stephen Bunting
Footage of the spontaneous scene quickly went viral on social media, with darts and football fans alike loving the moment. Reactions poured in:
- "Amazing lol," one fan wrote on X.
- "Stephen Bunting moonlighting as a steward at Ibrox," joked another.
- "If that's not him, this is even more class."
- "Bunting putting the overtime in at Ibrox tonight" another witty remark read.
Whether Bunting himself has seen the footage isn’t known. The 40-year-old was knocked out in the semi-finals of Night 15 of the Premier League Darts in Aberdeen on Thursday, but he’s sure to enjoy the clip of his Scottish double.
One thing’s certain: whether it’s Bunting or his lookalike, the man knows how to put on a show. The real Bunting will play one final match in this year’s Premier League, facing table-topper Luke Littler in the quarter-finals on the final night in Sheffield. He’s already out of the playoff race, but he’ll be looking to end his campaign on a high.
