This week in Leicester, the 2024 World Grand Prix is taking place. On Wednesday evening at the Mattioli Arena however, the darts on stage took second place in the attention of some fans in attendance as wedding bells struck.
During one of the breaks in the match between Ross Smith and Jonny Clayton, one fan thought the time was perfect to get down onto one knee and propose marriage to the love of his life. "Who says the darts isn't romantic!" the PDC's official social media pages caption the video. "We've only gone and had a proposal in the break."

Thankfully, the proposal was greeted by a loving nod of the head and a beaming smile as the crowd all around burst into rapturous applause. In terms of the on-stage action, it was Jonny Clayton that had reason to celebrate, taking a 3-1 victory over Smith to move into the quarter-finals where a tie against the defending World Grand Prix champion Luke Humphries now awaits.

- I completely agree with Vincent's comments on "whistlegate". It's great to have someone with Vincent's exprience address this issue, so hopefully clearer and stricter guidlelines can be given to referees, security and members of the crowd. No whistling during throws, and something like: whistlers evicted and fined a hefty sum.
