In the run-up to the resumption of
Premier League Darts action on April 19, DartsNews takes a look back at how each player has began the competition.
This time the attention turns to
Dimitri van den Bergh who has showed no nerves during his start to life in the darting roadshow.
Just like fellow debutant, Jonny Clayton, he has started well during the Premier League Darts and sits second after the opening block.
Van den Bergh is currently making a great impression in his first full year in the Premier League with only once seeing him throw an average below 98, but he won that game 7-0.
The two-time World Youth champion took a point off Michael van Gerwen in his opening game and then defeated Nathan Aspinall (7-5) and Glen Durrant (7-0).
Against Peter Wright, Van den Bergh was also the better player during the fourth round, but it remained a draw. Just before the end of the first block, the Belgian darter lost his unbeaten status. Van den Bergh missed too many doubles against José de Sousa and lost 7-3 to the Portuguese.
With six points from five matches, Van den Bergh can look back on a successful start, especially bearing in mind that the Belgian recently underwent knee surgery and has moved to England as of late meaning disruption off the oche.
Van den Bergh may need two or three more points to make it through the first half of the competition but looks likely to make it through at this point.
