A fine milestone for
Richard Veenstra on Tuesday afternoon at the fourteenth Players Championship event of the year. In his second-round match against Leon Weber, “Flyers” produced a nine-darter.
In the sixth leg of his match against Weber, Veenstra needed just nine darts to check out from 501. He opened the leg with back-to-back 180s, then fired in the required 141 checkout.
It was Veenstra’s very first nine-darter on the PDC circuit, and it was a nice bonus that his match happened to be broadcast on the streaming board. Veenstra had more reason to celebrate later, as he won the tie 6-4.
