The showdown between
Ritchie Edhouse and
Kim Huybrechts at the 2025
Dutch Darts Championship had all the ingredients of a darts thriller – explosive scoring, clutch finishing, and a fair share of controversy. With the score tied at 5-5, the match went down to a dramatic deciding leg, where tensions between the players reached a boiling point.
The emotional high point came when Edhouse, needing 68 to seal the win, missed two match darts – triggering a smattering of whistles from the crowd. In response, the Englishman turned to the audience and mockingly mimicked the whistling. The gesture appeared to rattle Huybrechts, who took extra time before his next throw, lost his rhythm, and then bust his score with 20 remaining by missing double 15. Edhouse didn’t waste his second chance – landing double 1 with his second dart to clinch a 6-5 victory.
After the match, the tension spilled over into a verbal exchange, with Huybrechts expressing his frustration over Edhouse’s conduct. Edhouse later commented: "Me and Kim, there is a lot of history. Little whistles, I done it back and Kim got the hump with it," explained the Englishman.
