VIDEO: Van Gerwen misses bullseye for historic nine-dart finish at World Grand Prix

Michael van Gerwen lost out to Danny Noppert in the opening round of the 2021 World Grand Prix in a stunning defeat but nearly made a slice of history.

Van Gerwen started with a 160 and wired the bull to finish with a 170 in a remarkable effort from 'Mighty Mike'.

It would have been the first one with a big fish 170 checkout and only the fourth in history in this tournament with Brendan Dolan, Robert Thornton and James Wade the only players to do it at the double start tournament. But this feat had never been achieved.
