Webster starts World Championship campaign with comfortable victory over Yamada

Darren Webster is successfully through to the third round at the 2020 PDC World Championship as he comfortably defeated Yuki Yamada who only won one leg.

Webster won 3-1, 3-0, 3-0 as he started his campaign successfully against the PDC Asian Tour Qualifier; who couldn't reproduce his good performance against Ryan Meikle. He struggled again on doubles hitting 1/9 and Webster hit 41 percent in a polished display.

Webster made a great start to proceedings winning the first set with ease; hitting a 106 checkout en route to doing so against the Japanese debutant; who of course had played one game already on the stage earlier this week.

It was six legs without reply from there as he claimed the second set 3-0 sealing it with an 82 checkout as he doubled his advantage and romped towards an easy victory over Yamada.

He continued his brilliance hitting a 90 checkout to take the first leg of the third set and he extended his advantage to eight legs in a row without being pegged back as he hit double 20 to double his lead in the third set and go within one.

From there, he claimed the victory in what was a dominant display from the Demolition Man who continues his form he exhibited at the Grand Slam of Darts; albeit against an opponent who didn't give much in return.
