Wesley Plaisier sees off Gerwyn Price at Players Championship 14; Robert Owen impresses with 115 average

Wesley Plaisier is having another outstanding day at Players Championship 14. After his final spot on Tuesday at the thirteenth Players Championship tournament, Plaisier joined the last sixteen on Wednesday.

After wins over Arron Monk (6-2) and Steve Beaton (6-2), the Dutchman scored his biggest scalp by beating Gerwyn Price 6-4 in the last 32. Plaisier trailed 2-4 against 'The Iceman', but then managed to win four legs in a row to advance to the next round with a fine comeback.

Price's compatriot Robert Owen fared better, reaching the last 16 with a stunning 6-1 win over Ryan Searle, averaging 115.85 in the process. Familiar names like Dave Chisnall, Josh Rock, Luke Humphries and Jonny Clayton are also still competing for the day's victory in Milton Keynes.

A total of 125,000 pounds in prize money is distributed at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive a check for 15,000 pounds.
