Nijman had reached the final by successively defeating Danny de Jong (4-0), Paul-Merlin Pfeifer (4-1), Nathan Rafferty (4-1), Jurjen van der Velde (4-3), Levy Frauenfelder (4-2), Gian van Veen (5-4) and Danny Jansen (5-4). Against Van der Velde, he recorded an average of 106, yet Nijman had saved his best game for last.
In a high-stakes final, he fell behind 2-4 to Springer. However, via a 13-darter and a 14-darter, Nijman came back to 4-4 before the Dutchman won the title with a 12-darter.
The Development Tour is the youth circuit of the PDC. This tour is open to players ages 16 through 23. Players who turn 24 during the season may continue to compete.
At each Development Tour tournament, there is a prize pool of 15,000 pounds to be divided. With the prize money, a ranking is established. At the end of the season, the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2025 and 2026. The ranking winner also gets to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts.
