Nathan Aspinall has offered fans a glimpse of an all-star darts holiday in Marbella, with several familiar faces from the PDC circuit enjoying some downtime together in the Spanish sunshine.
The former UK Open and World Matchplay champion posted
a poolside photo on Instagram from Ocean Club Marbella, captioning the story: “Chilled out day with the boys.... GIT UP!!”
Aspinall was joined by a notable darts group, with
Luke Humphries,
Jonny Clayton,
Joe Cullen,
Russ Bray and others tagged in the post. The image showed the group posing together by the pool, sunglasses on, drinks nearby and the Mediterranean in the background.
But one high-profile name was missing. Aspinall also tagged
Michael van Gerwen in the story, adding: “Where are you??” alongside a pair of eyes emojis.
Marbella break for darts stars
The post quickly caught attention because of the names involved. Humphries remains one of the sport’s biggest stars, Clayton and Cullen are long-established PDC favourites, while Bray remains one of darts’ most recognisable figures after his iconic years as a referee.
Aspinall’s own summer has brought plenty of focus on and off the oche, but this was a more relaxed update from the Englishman as several leading darts names took the chance to switch off together away from competition.
Van Gerwen’s absence added the obvious punchline. The Dutchman has shared plenty of stages with those pictured over the years, but on this occasion, Aspinall appeared keen to know why the three-time world champion had not joined the Marbella gathering.
For now, it seems MVG was the missing man from the darts holiday line-up. With Aspinall, Humphries, Clayton, Cullen and Bray all together in Marbella, though, there was still more than enough star power around the pool.
