The upcoming 2025
World Darts Championship marks the end of the initial two-year cycle on the Pro Tour, for the
Q-School Class of 2023. So let's take a look at how all the PDC Tour Card winners from that edition fared.
In truth, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for those successful back in January 2023. Just five players have done enough over the two years to break into the top 64 on the PDC Order of Merit and guarantee themselves a place on the Pro Tour in 2025. For a further 3 players, a decent run at the Alexandra Palace this December, could be enough to save them at the very last. Whilst for the remaining, 21 Tour Card winners from 2023, it's back to Q-School again in January if they fancy another crack.
Those 5, most successful of the bunch are Karel Sedlacek (world ranked 61),
Dylan Slevin (world ranked 60),
Stephen Burton (world ranked 58) and Dutch duo,
Niels Zonneveld (world ranked 47) and
Richard Veenstra (world ranked 46).
As mentioned, three further players can still ensure themselves a spot on the Pro Tour in 2025, those being
Jeffrey De Zwaan,
Nick Kenny and
Robert Owen respectively. The trio are all outside the top 64 in the world as we speak, but as they have managed to qualify for the World Darts Championship, where each win earns big money and big ranking points, the opportunity is still there to work their way up with a win or two at the Ally Pally.
Sadly though, for the vast majority of Tour Card winners from 2023, the two year spell on tour has been disappointing. The likes of Jacques Labre, Christian Perez, Adam Smith-Neale and Ronny Huybrechts have been absent for more events than they've played for one reason or another. Whereas others such as Pascal Rupprecht, Graham Usher, Geert Nentjes, Keegan Brown and more have failed to really make the most of their time.
