Ian White is through to the latter stages at the Grand Slam of Darts and afterwards he said that it is more that he has been there for years and has never got out of the group stages and so is really pleased to be through.
White said that he had a decent group going into the tournament especially with his form on the main tours and that he isn't scared of a clash with Van Gerwen in the next round.
'I'm so happy, I've been here four years and never got past the group stage, I've always finished second to bottom and last or something. I know the darts are there, I was hoping to get a 5-1 or 5-2 to put pressure on James (Wade) but I am through that's all that matters,' said White to LiveDarts.
'There was no pressure, I wasn't in it two years ago so everything is a bonus. Some of the other groups are a nightmare and I thought decent group here, I should be doing alright. I am playing well on the European Tours and played well in the ProTours; it was only Van Gerwen above me.'
'I am through, I'll take it. I've played Van Gerwen and beat him in a final. I am through and that's all that matters.'
