Simon Whitlock lost out in the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts to Jose de Sousa and became the latest player to fall foul of the curse of Michael van Gerwen.
De Sousa and James Wade will now face off in the final later this evening in Coventry and Whitlock took to Twitter after his defeat to 'The Special One'.
"I gave it my all but ran out of steam. It’s been a good 6 weeks with two semis in 2 majors which I had not qualified directly for. Appreciate all the support and goodwill from fans and sponsors - onwards and upwards."
