Woodhouse impressive in commanding victory over Lim on PDC World Championship debut

Luke Woodhouse had a tough test pre match as he took on Paul Lim in the first round on debut at the PDC World Championship but he lived up to that in an impressive display as he claimed a commanding victory over the legend.

Woodhouse averaged 96 and had 40 percent on the doubles; alongside three 180's in a straight sets win; he will go into his next tie against Michael Smith full of confidence knowing he has likely kept his Tour Card as well.

To begin the tie, Lim started brilliantly smashing in a 160 checkout; as Woodhouse looked tentative in his first few throws on his PDC World Championship debut. He found his feet though; he hit the first 180 of the match finishing 81 for a 12-dart finish.

He reeled off three consecutive legs in the first set to clinch it; with 75 percent on the doubles; as the Bewdley ace looked good in the opening stanza of the match.

He looked even better hitting an 81 checkout to break and hitting around a 108 set average as he went 2-0 up in sets from there with a 98.7 average and 55 percent on the doubles as Lim looked firmly up against it.

Woodhouse began the next set just like he did the previous and pinned double 20 first time to go 1-0 up and despite a fourth 180 and an 82 checkout from Lim which saw him level up; 'Woody' hit double eight to go one away at 2-1 up.

Lim was well back on throw and Woodhouse pressured brilliantly but missed multiple match darts. 'The Singapore Slinger' looked frustrated as he fluffed his lines on the 64 finish and Woodhouse hit double one to book his place in Round Two.
