Luke Woodhouse has been a player on the rise this year and he will now make his PDC World Championship debut this weekend.

Woodhouse caught up with DartsNews.com ahead of playing at the Alexandra Palace for the first time; for the Bewdley ace, it still hasn't fully sunk in.

"I can't wait, to be a part of the biggest darts tournament on the planet is a dream come true. Still all a bit surreal but I can't wait to get down to Ally Pally and get going," said Woodhouse to DartsNews.com.

In terms of his year on the tour, Woodhouse admitted that he wanted a bit more from his game; but that he would have taken qualification for the World Championship and Players Championship Finals at the start of the year.

"I've played fairly well on the tour this year. I would have liked to have performed a bit more consistently but it's all still a learning game for me on the tour but if somebody would have offered me qualifying for the Players Championship and the World Championship, I would of snapped their hand off."

Belief going into World Championship

Woodhouse produced a brilliant performance in Minehead seeing off Daryl Gurney; he spoke afterwards about having almost a no fear attitude with that belief that he can beat anybody; he will be taking that mentality into the World's he admitted.

"I will definitely be taking that attitude into the World Championship with me. I think any player on the tour feels the same way or they wouldn't be on the tour. I genuinely believe if turn up and it all clicks then I have the game to beat anyone."

Support from Harrows

Earlier this year, Woodhouse signed a deal with Harrows Darts; he said that he hasn't put down his darts since they were given to him and that he is thankful for the support they have given him.

"Harrows have be unbelievable for me to improve and take my game forward. They made me my own custom darts to the exact specifications I wanted and I haven't put them down since I've had them,

Being a part of a company as big as Harrows is incredible. the support they have shown me all year has been amazing."

Facing Paul Lim

Woodhouse has the task of facing the fans favourite and legend of the game, Paul Lim in his first round tie and he said that while it's going to be an incredible experience; his tactic is to focus on one game at a time despite Michael Smith potentially being on the horizon if he wins.

"Playing Paul Lim is going to be incredible. I was only 2 years old when he hit that infamous 9 darter at Lakeside; so it says a lot about the man to still be playing at such a high level after all this time."

"To be honest, I'm not looking past Paul as I feel would be naive of me to do so, just really trying to concentrate on my first game."
