Michael Smith spoke after winning his opening round about his wife, Dagmara wanting the gold palm tree trophy for the fireplace at home, well he is one game away from doing just that at the
Bahrain Darts Masters.
World Champion and World Number One, Smith is into the final and on the verge of back-to-back TV titles after seeing off legendary Dutchman, Raymond van Barneveld in a 7-5 win.
Sealing it by aid of five 180's and a 98.3 average, he has lived up to his billing as the World Number One so far this weekend and has Gerwyn Price or Rob Cross in the final.
He began by moving into a 4-3 lead averaging 106 early on. Barney held at 5-4 down but the break soon counted with 101 not pinned by Van Barneveld and Smith went one away only to miss multiple match darts and allow Van Barneveld to go one behind.
But after setting up double eight from 144, he pinned it for a 16-darter to seal the deal.
