Wright claims PDC Super Series title on final day once again with deciding leg win over Clayton

Peter Wright has produced on the final day again at the PDC Super Series in Barnsley making it four occasions where he has left it to the final day.

The recent World Matchplay champion didn't have it easy in a thrilling tie with Jonny Clayton but won through in a decider having missed droves of match darts allowing 'The Ferret' back in.

Wright hit a 180 in the opening leg but missed a dart at double five and Clayton took the opening leg as a result.

But the former soon hit the front with a 70 checkout to break at 2-1 up followed by pouncing on three costly missed darts at doubles before consolidating that to make it 3-1.

Clayton hit his first 180 followed by a 140 checkout to trail 3-2 and the theme of the early going continued with Wright recementing his cushion followed by Clayton levelling up with a 140 checkout to make it 4-4.

But Wright pounced again on missed doubles to go 5-4 up and held from there to help himself to a 6-4 lead before Wright went one away after two more missed darts at doubles cost Clayton.

It wasn't done though with Clayton taking out 167 to stop the rot at 7-5 as he looked to head towards a decider.

A decider it went as Wright missed droves of match darts and Clayton sent it all the way breaking throw to make it 7-7.
