The schedule has been released for the World Matchplay by the PDC taking place shortly in Blackpool with Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith & Adrian Lewis all highlights of the first night of action.

There is no defending champion in the PDC World Matchplay with Phil Taylor retiring and having the trophy then named in his honor. Van Gerwen is a multiple time champion in the event and alongside James Wade are the only players left who have won the World Matchplay.
