Due to Coronavirus, darts has come to a halt but DartsNews as a result takes a look back at some historic moments from darting history with this time Mark Webster and Phil Taylor being the focus.
It was the 2011 PDC World Championship and as usual Phil Taylor was the title favourite and after smashing Webster the year before 6-0 in the semi-finals, it was ‘The Spider’s turn for glory.
Webster produced a shock 5-2 win and it was the first time barring 2008 that Taylor hadn’t reached the semi-final.
He was 3-1 down and in huge trouble but looked to be on his way when he halved the deficit but Webster found an extra gear and found himself on the verge suddenly at 4-2 up.
The next set went to a decider and after some poor darts from Taylor, Webster produced the unlikely win.
