Andy Baetens has sailed through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 WDF Lakeside World Championship with a superb victory over Scott Marsh.
Baetens hit a 102.79 average which is the third highest in Lakeside history with Richard Veenstra achieving the highest mark earlier this week.
A 72 checkout from Baetens sealed the opening set against Marsh. A 91 checkout saw Baetens go 2-0 up and was throwing for a two sets lead. A 121 checkout saw Marsh go one away from drawing level. A 69 checkout saw Baetens go 2-0 up.
Double 12 for Baetens saw him go 1-0 up. He went one away and an 89 checkout saw the Belgian seal it.
Thibault Tricole will be his opponent after another impressive display in seeing off Steve Hine in a 3-1 win ending the run of 'The Muffin Man'.
Hine began with a hold of throw sealing it with a 109. But Tricole hit back with a break. Hine held throw to make it 2-1 but a double eight shot saw Tricole send it all the way.
Tricole missed 103 for the set and Hine hit a 70 checkout to lead 1-0. A 116 checkout saw Tricole go 2-0 up and one away from a 1-1 sets lead which he sealed with a 65 checkout.
Tricole hit a 120 checkout to seal an opening break. He missed 140 for a hold but returned to go one away from a 2-1 sets lead. A 61 checkout saw Hine hold to prolong the set. A 104 checkout saw Tricole go 2-1 up.
A 104 checkout saw Tricole level up at 2-2 and he was throwing for the win. Tricole missed a match dart but returned for double 10.
