Jarred Cole will face Antony Allen in the second round of the 2022 WDF
Lakeside World Championship after seeing off
Martin Adams in a quality opening round display.
Cole averaged 93 on his debut to see off the three-time World Champion in a 2-0 win as 'Wolfie's return to action on the Lakeside stage didn't prove a fruitful one.
Cole took an opening hold but Adams hit back with a 121 checkout on the bull with the former ready to pounce for a break.
Cole chased round the board from 40 but Adams couldn’t pin 134 so Cole went one away from the set with a hold of throw. He sealed the opening set on double eight with Adams back on 91 who couldn’t hold.
Cole sealed a 16-darter to break and started his throw with a 180 only for Adams to hit one himself but he missed a chance to break back.
‘The King of the Castle’ missed three at double 16 though and Adams leveled up. Only for Cole to break back on double 20 to go one away. He sealed the deal from there with an 85 checkout on double 10.
