The inaugural edition of the WDF World Championship is set for Lakeside with darts to return to the hallowed venue from April 2-10 2022. £300,000 in prize money is set overall during this tournament. The event was originally scheduled to take place in January but has been postponed to the spring due to possible corona measures.
The men's tournament will compete for £50,000 for the winner. More than double the amount for the final winner of the BDO World Championship in 2020.
This sees an overall prize fund of £200,000 for the men. While it is a record amount for the women's tournament with the winner taking home £25,000. During the BDO days, the peak amount given was £12,000, with the overall prize fund being just £29,000. This time it is £87,500.
In addition, there is also a tournament for boys and girls. The winner of the boys tournament wins £5,000, while the girls winner will receive £2,000.
