The men's pairs tournament at the
WDF Europe Cup 2024 in Slovakia will feature a final between Sweden and England. Johan Engstrom and Andreas Harrysson managed to secure Sweden a final spot, while the English duo of Scott Mitchell and Cameron Crabtree also made it to the final. The final will be played on Saturday.
The two darters from Sweden easily managed to get through their first five matches. They defeated Mark Farmer/Isaac Nunez (4-0), Andreas Nikolaou/Andreas Georgiou (4-1), Neil Duff/Ricky Dunlop (4-1), Teemu Harju/Jonas Masalin (4-0) and Marko Janjic/Ivica Cavric (4-1) to reach the semifinals. Then did come serious opposition from Czech duo Alexander Masek and Pavel Drtil. However, Engstrom and Harrysson managed to get through this match 5-3.
Mitchell and Crabtree had to put in more effort to reach the finals. The English team began the tournament with a 4-2 win over Lubos Pivarc and Juraj Vindis of Slovakia. They then beat Jason Mauersberger/Michel Schmid (4-1), Alex Bassetti/Claudio Dolcetti (4-2) and Patrick Tringler/Andreas Kumpan (4-0) for a spot in the quarterfinals. They were then too strong 4-3 to Serbian duo Mladen Radosavljevic and Oliver Ferenc.
The semifinal was another exciting match. Mitchell and Crabtree prevailed 5-3 in this match against the Irish duo of Conor Heneghan and Michael Flynn.
