Chris Landman's latest Lakeside appearance has started perfectly. In a very accomplished performance, the Dutchman triumphed 3-0 over David Kirwan to reach the last 16.

"It's always nice here, it's the nicest venue I think," Landman reflects in his post-match interview. A former BDO World Championship quarter-finalist, Landman had never actually won on the Lakeside stage before, his best run coming when the tournament was moved to the O2 Arena. "I'm very happy to have finally won one. A little bit of pressure of me now."
Despite the win and the relative comfortableness of the scoreline, Landman still sees room for improvement going forward. "I know I can play better. The finishing was not good. I was scoring well at the beginning but by the end, that was less," he assesses. "I'm happy that I finished it off and got 3-0 over the line."
Next up for Landman is the Swiss, Thomas Junghans. If Landman can become more consistent, he thinks he'll be a challenge for anyone. "I played good but also, I get bad legs, but it's still getting better," he says. "When I lose games, it's mostly with the doubles. But it is getting better and if I play the same level I'm practising whilst on the stage, I'll be okay."
