We enter the second week of the 2024 WDF World Championship in Frimley Green. The program on Monday consists of eight matches, four in the afternoon session and four in the evening session. Paul Lim will make his appearance.
The fourth day of the WDF World Championship begins with an encounter between Dennis Nilsson and Howard Jones. The Swede had a sensational tournament last year by reaching the last four in Frimley Green. Nilsson eventually lost against later winner Andy Baetens. 'The Strongman' starts his tournament against Howard Jones, the winner of the 2024 South Australian Classic.
Then we get another Swedish darter on the stage, among the ladies that is. Maud Jansson qualified for
Lakeside via the Nordic qualifying race. She will meet Lerena Rietbergen, who is making her debut at the Women's World Championships. Rietbergen has had a pretty successful 2024 behind her with overall wins at the Antwerp Open, Finnish Masters, Finnish Open, Italian Grand Masters and the Malta Open.
The afternoon session concludes with two matches from the first round of the men's tournament. Laszlo Kadar can get ready for his third participation in the WDF World Championship. The Romanian will face off with Hannes Schnier from Austria. Schnier previously competed once at the PDC World Darts Championship, but that participation dates from the 2009 edition. Darren Johnson and Reece Colley close the afternoon session. Both men were also there last year, but were then eliminated in the second round. So for one of the two Englishmen, this year's adventure ends in the first round.
Paul Lim makes his return to the Lakeside stage Monday night, where he made history in 1990 by throwing a nine-darter. Still 'The Singapore Slinger' is the only player who managed to do so on this stage. No darter at this tournament has as much experience as Lim, who has already played 26 World Championships. His opponent Moreno Blom made his debut at a World Championship only last season. The Dutchman was then eliminated in the second round by Neil Duff.
Deta Hedman also begins her world championship. The three-time Lakeside finalist will take on her compatriot Kirsty Hutchinson, losing finalist in 2022. The two English players will battle out who gets to take on Nicole Regnaud in the quarterfinals. There are also two more duels from the men's second round. Brandon Weening is going to make his debut at Lakeside. The Australian will do so against Jun Matsuda, who won 2-1 in sets over Jordan Brooks in the first round. In the final match of the evening, former BDO World Trophy winner Peter Machin will take the stage for his match against Mike Gillet.
Live stream for Lakeside 2024
Although the tournament cannot be televised in the U.K. until finals weekend, interested parties can follow the tournament via a live stream. All operations will be

Distribution of prize money at Lakeside 2024
The total prize pool for the WDF Lakeside World Championship includes £221,000 in prize money. That is a lot less than in 2023, when it was £257,000.
The main prize for the winner of the men's and women's tournament did remain the same. The winner in the men's will take home 50,000 pounds in prize money. The winner in the women's will receive a check for 25,000 pounds.
