Vincent van der Voort hd been active within the PDC for many years. Last week he competed in a WDF tournament for the first time in a long time. The 49-year-old Dutchman competed together with his son Kevin in the pairs tournament of the Dutch Open Darts. However, father and son quickly went down.

Van der Voort especially noticed that his son had trouble dealing with all the attention and wants to learn lessons from that towards the future. For Vincent van der Voort, it had been more than a decade since he had played at the Dutch Open Darts. Earlier this year, he lost his PDC Tour Card, which allowed him to now get back into action on the TV boards of this top Dutch tournament.

Van der Voort said he had enjoyed the experience, but noticed that his son had more trouble dealing with all the attention. "There was a lot of pressure on him," Van der Voort said in the podcast 'Darts Draait Door'.

"I did underestimate a bit what that would do to him," Van der Voort continued. "He still had a certain need to prove himself to me and the world. There's no need for that. It was hard for him to play, I may have underestimated that myself and should have handled it differently."

"He's also there for the first time and what does everything do to him? I'm not used to anything else. When we unexpectedly got good opponents who were unknown, he found that hard to deal with."

Van der Voort did let it be known in the podcast that it probably would not have been his last appearance at the Dutch open Darts, although he would not confirm definitively whether he will be back next year.
