From Friday, Nov. 29 to Sunday, Dec. 8, the 2024 WDF World Darts Championship is scheduled to take place on the iconic
Lakeside stage. The organization announced that the draw will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 5. An exact time has not yet been announced.
If a player withdraws from the entry list for Lakeside prior to the draw on November 5, he will be replaced according to WDF rules and the seedings list will be adjusted. If a player withdraws after the draw has taken place, he will be replaced by the highest seeded player on the qualifying race who is not yet competing. If that player replaces a seeded player but loses in his first match, he is only entitled to first-round prize money and first-round points.
The men's field of participants consists of a total of 48 players, with the top 16 on the seedings list admitted directly to the second round. The remaining 32 names will start in the first round. In the men's event, the main prize of 50,000 pounds will be contested.
For the ladies there are 24 players. Here too a sorting has been made. The top 8 of the ranking list will enter from the last sixteen. In the second round they will face an opponent who has already played a match in Frimley Green. A reward of 25,000 pounds is waiting for the winner of the ladies tournament.
This is the third time the WDF has hosted a world championship at Lakeside. Last year Andy Baetens won the title in the men's event, while Greaves became world champion in the women's event. Greaves will try to defend her title, while Baetens will not compete this year. The Belgian currently holds a PDC Tour Card and is thus excluded from participating.
