THROWBACK VIDEO: Fordham claims 2004 Lakeside World Darts Championship with victory over King

With the WDF World Darts Championship seeing a return to Lakeside in the next few weeks, DartsNews looks back at classic moments and matches from this iconic venue.

Back in 2004, Andy Fordham was the victor of the BDO World Darts Championship reversing a run of making it to the semi-final on four previous occasions.

However, 'The Viking' made it to the final which proved pivotal as he went onto win it. After victories over Brian Derbyshire (3-0), Tony West (3-0), Darryl Fitton (5-4) and Raymond van Barneveld (5-4), he went onto deny Mervyn King once more.

Due to return to action at the World Seniors early next year, 'The Viking' sadly passed away earlier in 2021.
