Veenstra on near-miss nine-dart finish at 2022 WDF Lakeside World Championship: "It was so close"

Richard Veenstra produced another incredible display to knock out Brian Raman and reach the semi-finals of the 2022 WDF Lakeside World Championship.

Veenstra missed double 12 for a nine-dart finish for a perfect conclusion and he admitted he was only thinking of concluding the game, not the perfect leg.

"It was close. My focus was only on winning that game and after 2-2 in that last set, I was thinking come on have a good leg and then another two trebles for double 12 for the nine-darter. It was so close but I was thinking that double 12 needs to be in now otherwise I will have a problem," said Veenstra to Tungsten Tales.

"I will be ready tomorrow. First two sets I played pretty good, he missed some to get a set but after 2-0, I was coming up and I was focused again. I played not so well the two sets afterwards then you hear the music on 2-2 and you were thinking it's nice to be here and enjoy what you see. That's what I've done and from then I played good."

"That's all you can dream of to play the semi's again, I've done it in 2016 and six years later I'm back."
