Jeffrey Sparidaans immediately secured a high spot on the WDF rankings after winning the men's singles tournament of the Dutch Open last weekend.
The ranking is still led by Jimmy van Schie, who surprisingly lost to David Fatum in the last 32 in Assen. The American was the losing finalist at the Dutch Open and moved up to 29th place on the WDF ranking. Danny van Trijp and Martijn Kleermaker were the losing semi-finalists. They are in a shared 108th spot with 103 points each.
Danny Porter, Brandon Weening, Peter Machin and Ben Robb remain untouched when it comes to the rest of the top five. Also for Sparidaans, it matters little for his Lakeside hopes. A title has already booked that spot. Of those well known names, Leonard Gates is still in the top 15. He sits 11th.
Neil Duff, former WDF World Champion as well as current winner Shane McGuirk are part of the top 32. Albeit both did not add points this past weekend. Many of the top names didn't play this past weekend with it being a fairly Dutch top heavy latter stages.
Speaking of for the champion, It was his first WDF tournament in over two years for Sparidaans. This after playing his tournaments at the PDC for the past two seasons as a Tour Card holder. This also left Sparidaans without a position in the WDF rankings. By winning the Dutch Open title, Sparidaans accumulated 270 points in one fell swoop, bringing him into the rankings in 28th place. In addition, Sparidaans is guaranteed participation in this year's WDF World Championship at Lakeside because the Dutch Open has platinum status on the WDF calendar.
