Beau Greaves is definitely making the move to the PDC. The 21-year-old top player secured herself a PDC Tour Card last weekend, while she had also previously qualified for the Darts World Cup through the Women's Series. Through the Development Tour she also qualified for the tournament in Ally Pally.
For a long time, however, it remained uncertain whether Greaves would actually compete in the PDC World Darts Championship. After all, the PDC does not allow someone who participates in the PDC World Championship to also participate in the WDF World Championship. For that reason, Greaves preferred the past two years to participate in the Women's World Championship at Lakeside, where she is now a three-time Women's World Champion.
This year, Greaves was barely active on the WDF circuit, while she did make a few appearances on the PDC main circuit. She played some Pro Tours and Challenge Tours, and also impressed at the UK Open. She made it to the fourth round, in which she only narrowly lost to Luke Humphries. Moreover, 'Beau 'n' Arrow' has been by far the best player on the Women's Series circuit for several years.
This week, Greaves finally provided her future plans through her management. Earlier, the management announced that she is accepting her PDC Tour Card, and then also came the news that she prefers to participate at Alexandra Palace in December. With that, her chapter at the WDF closes for the time being.
They have since responded via social media to Greaves' final move from the WDF to the PDC, and the WDF wishes her well as she continues her career.
"Three-time Women's World Champion Beau Greaves has informed the WDF that she will not be competing at this year's WDF World Championships, as she instead competes in the PDC World Championship before starting her PDC Tour Card next year.
"Although Beau will no longer be competing on the Lakeside stage, we wish her all the best in the next stage of her darting career. She has been a fantastic ambassador for our system since we returned from the pandemic in 2021, winning every major WDF title on the way. It's been fantastic to see how her game has gone from strength to strength playing in WDF events and we know that she'll continue to make even more history on the PDC circuit.
The WDF also announced that in accordance with WDF rules, Greaves' spot will be replaced by the next player in the qualifying race at the time of the cut-off on Saturday, Nov. 1.
