The WDF World Darts Championships has found a new broadcasting home for the 2025, with Welsh channel S4C set to televise eight sessions of the prestigious event which kicks off 28th November.
The event will be free-to-air in the UK, with coverage commencing on YouTube on 3rd December for the evening session, going straight through the afternoon session on 5th December. The business end of the tournament will be broadcasted in full to eager darts fans, with the second session of the quarter-finals before showing the semi-finals and final.
This will continue S4C's involvements in the sport after they showed the Six Nations Cup in June and Welsh Open in August, but they now have the cream of the crop on the WDF circuit.
"S4C's coverage of the Six Nations Cup and Welsh Open & Classic earlier in the year was first-class, providing a fantastic platform for the players within our system," said Nick Rolls, WDF Secretary General, in a press release. "To have the chance to work with them again on our biggest event of the year, live from the iconic Lakeside Country Club, is brilliant and ensures terrestrial television exposure for players involved in our World Championships this year.
Rolls went on to hint that there would be more darts on offer for the fans. "This is also just the start of our announcements relating to this year’s World Championships so stay tuned for more in the coming days.”
S4C's Chief Content Officer Llion Iwan backed this statement up by saying: "S4C is proud to bring viewers live coverage from Lakeside for the first time. We’re committed to showcasing the very best talent and competition across a wide range of sporting events. The World Darts Championships is a highlight of the sporting calendar, and we’re delighted to provide a platform for Welsh and international players to perform on one of the sport’s most iconic stages."
