Betfred have made a donation pledge ahead of the World Matchplay beginning later based on 180’s scored and a special nine-dart challenge will also be held to increase it further.

The title sponsors who have taken over from this year will donate £50 for every 180 scored; also if the total exceeds the amount which is 301 which was set last year, they will make a further £10,000 donation.

They will also be hosting a nine-dart challenge for the 32 World Matchplay competitors; as a result they will be donating £1 per point scored by the players with the videos set to be released by the bookmaker in the coming days.

It is a charity close to the PDC with Sky Sports presenter Dave Clark who fronts the Darts coverage suffering from the condition; so the money will help into further research.

Betfred have previously sponsored the World Snooker Championship and donated per century break scored at the Crucible, this in turn totalled £25,000 which also went to the charity.
