A mere hour after 2025 PDC Q-School was finished, the World Seniors Darts Championship field was completed with two of the big names who didn't get PDC Tour Cards finding their way into WSDT action in Mervyn King and Simon Whitlock.
King and Whitlock will play at the Circus Tavern between 19-22 February 2025 after both missing out on Tour Cards and they will join Steve Beaton and Vincent van der Voort who retired and took a sabbatical respectively from PDC darts.
Whitlock is a former PDC World Championship finalist and a former BDO finalist also and he also won the PDC World Cup in 2022 with Damon Heta as well as the European Championship in 2012. One of the most loved players on the PDC Tour, while one door closes another opens.
While Mervyn King will also join the World Seniors ranks. A former World Master and two time World Championship finalist, his longevity in the PDC has been astounding and he will now play World Seniors after dropping off the tour like Whitlock this past season.
John Part played during the Opening Stage of Q-School but didn't get through. He will return though having played multiple times and will fill the Canadian void left by Jim Long who has now claimed a PDC Tour Card. While Darryl Fitton also rounds out the field with his fan friendly walk-on to One Step Beyond by Madness.
"We are really pleased to be able to confirm these four players for our upcoming World Championship," said WSD Chairman Jason Francis.
"They all need little introduction, and will all be welcome additions to what is already a tournament stacked full of talent".
"It's set to be our biggest and most keenly-contested World Championship to date, and we can't wait for it all to get underway!".
🏆WSD can now confirm the final four invited players for the upcoming 2025 BetGoodwin Seniors World Darts Championship.
