“I’m a slow starter but I’m playing well”: Fitton looking forward to Les Wallace challenge at World Seniors Darts Championship

In a joint interview with Tony O'Shea, Darryl Fitton looked ahead to the World Seniors Darts Championship taking place this week.

Fitton will aim to go One Step Beyond his run last year when he takes on Les Wallace in the opening round.

"I'm feeling quite confident. I know I've been practicing quite well, I know Les has been practicing. It's one of those situations if it happens, it happens. It's harder when you get older to get into it straight away. I'm a slow starter but I'm still playing well so I'm looking forward to it," he said to World Seniors Darts.

Richie Howson

Last year, Fitton faced off against Richie Howson who brought a big local contingent and that contributed to a nervy performance.

"It was a bit nervy, a long time since I'd played on television. I was a bit nervous. A few other issues that I can't talk about but everything was a bit scary, like a rabbit in the headlights.

"Practice, practice, practice but you can't practice nerves."
