Chris Mason has progressed to the quarterfinals of the World Seniors Darts Championship. 'Mace the Ace' defeated Manfred Bilderl 3-1 in the second round.
Bilderl had caused a huge surprise in the opening round by eliminating Phil Taylor. "It changed things massively because if I'd have played Phil and lost it wouldn't have mattered," Mason said post-match. "If I'd have lost tonight it would have been a disaster."
Mason will now take on Lisa Ashton in the quarterfinals. "Realistically, I'm in a world of trouble tomorrow," he admits. "I'm dreading playing Lisa."
"Once you've been competitive, you never lose that edge of just wanting to win and sometimes winning isn't enough," he explains. "You want to do yourself justice. You want to entertain the crowd. You want to entertain the viewers at home and you want to promote this event as much as you can, because you want it to do well and that comes with itscpressures. It's tough, really tough.".
