Eight contenders remain in the battle for the senior world title at the World Seniors Darts Championship in Purfleet, England. There will be a new name on the trophy anyway, as the winner of these first two editions of this tournament was eliminated Saturday night.
In 2022 and 2023, Robert Thornton was the victor. However, the Scottish darter went down 3-2 in sets against Andy Hamilton at the last sixteen.
'The Hammer' will take on crowd favorite John Henderson in the last eight, who in turn had dealt with Kevin Painter (3-1). The winner of this encounter will play either Jim Long or Paul Hogan in the semifinals.
At the other end of the bracket, Chris Mason faces off with Lisa Ashton, who has already managed to send home Michael Huntley (3-2) and Scott Mitchell (3-2). At the end of the afternoon, Mark Dudbridge and Colin McGarry battle for the final semifinal spot.
