"I'm too young to retire!" - Martin Adams has no plans to join Phil Taylor in hanging up his darts

Martin Adams narrowly escaped elimination in the opening round of the World Senior Championship. 'Wolfie' bounced back from a 2-0 deficit in sets to still win 3-2 over Deta Hedman.

"I'm feeling relieved and I feel like I've used my 'get out of jail free' card too early," 'Wolfie' laughed in his post-match interview. "Deta is such a good player, fantastic. So I kind of got away with one there a little bit."

The 67-year-old Englishman also reflected on the farewell of legendary Phil Taylor, who lost to Manfred Bilderl in the opening round of what was his final World Championship appearance. "So he says..."doubts Adams however. "I'm not convinced."

"You've only got to look at Raymond van Barneveld. He retired and then came back! Is Phil going to do that? I don't know but if he does decide to put the darts away for good then fair play to him."

Adams himself has no plans to retire any time soon though. "I'm too young to retire!" He laughs. "I'm not gonna retire no. I love it."
