New Seniors World Champion guaranteed as lacklustre Robert Thornton is made to pay by Andy Hamilton

A new World Seniors Darts Championship winner is guaranteed in 2024 after two-time and only even winner, Robert Thornton was dumped out on Saturday night by debutant Andy Hamilton.

As mentioned, Thornton had taken victory at both previous editions of the Seniors World Championship at the Circus Tavern but despite having nine match darts for a 3-1 win against Hamilton in this one, the Scot couldn't take advantage. After the multitude of misses, the fight seemed to have left Thornton in the deciding set as Hamilton raced through it 3-0 to seal the win and hand Thornton his first ever loss at this event.

In the second tie of the night, another of the fancied names pre-tournament, Neil Duff was sent packing. The former WDF champion was completely outplayed early on by Paul Hogan, and although Duff got more competitive as the match went on, the damage had been done and it was 'Crocodile Dundee' who took a 3-0 win.
